MEMORI CONCEPT
The concept was born of a (initially) simple idea: the objects we value most, often bear the imprint of a story or a loved one. In the case of a watch, it bears the imprint of the person who wore it before us. I wanted to underline this link, to make it visible, by making it the main subject of the watch.
So I designed this complication to reflect the passage of time on a grand scale, echoing memories and recollections. Hence its name: Memori.
You'll see later that the complication can be seen in many different ways, depending on what you want...
Indications show time on different scales: a day, a year, a century.
The first dial shows the time over 24 hours, the second measures years over 100 years, and an index marks the passage of the current year since the mechanism was started..

HOW IT WORKS
The watch counts the time it is in use.
A bit like a car odometer.
This is how the link between the user and the object is memorized. If the watch is not wound, the counter stops without any modification - apart from resetting the time, of course.
To begin with, I chose to display the time over 24 hours (and not 12 hours) to get a clear view of the whole day, which totally changes the way I read the time.
Secondly, the indication of the current year and the year counter are very slow scales that we're not necessarily used to having on our wrists. Yet they speak to us because they remind us of human life expectancy.
These three scales (24h, 1 year, 100 years), visible at a glance, enable us to appreciate the difference between our perception of time and the reality of life.
You can see this watch as a reminder of an inevitable death to come, or as a tool for appreciating the time we have left.
Different ways of looking at the complication:
-If a parent passes the watch on to a child, the latter can see how many years it has been worn and advance the counter in turn. The watch thus becomes a symbol of heritage, a witness to what has been passed down through the ages.
-This complication can also become a landmark for different moments in life. If the watch is given as a gift to mark a special event (a wedding, a birth, etc.), it enables the wearer to keep track of the time that has elapsed since that precious moment.
If the wearer is embarking on a long-term project, he or she will be able to see, on a lifetime scale, how much time is left to achieve it.
-If the wearer sets himself a commitment, the watch will enable him to measure how long he has kept his word. It becomes a silent witness to his determination, which he will remember every time he winds the watch to keep the counter ticking.
